Full Biography - Nana Danso
Nana Danso is a Ghanaian artist born in Tamale and based in Accra. His work centers on a cast of recurring non-binary figures that move through imagined worlds shaped by shrine culture, folklore, memory, and everyday life. Working across painting, sculpture, installation, photography, performance, and moving image, he builds narratives around belief, transformation, and the symbolic lives of objects, creating environments where spiritual, cultural, and fictional realities exist side by side.
A self-taught artist, Danso has exhibited internationally and participated in residencies including Gallery 1957 and Villa Karo. In 2024, he collaborated with Off-White on its SS25 collection. Rooted in storytelling and material culture, his practice draws on personal and collective histories to consider how meaning is carried through images, objects, and acts of belief.
